Whitetail Falls

Twin Peaks Star Pics Card 52

Location:
Located next to the Great Northern Hotel, west of Highway 21, on Whitetail Mountain. The water source for the Falls is Black Lake, approximately two miles north.

Points of Interest:
The rapids before the Falls can be treacherous, especially in the spring when the snow melts and fills the river. In the winter of 1942, an unidentified man was caught attempting to swim the current beneath the Falls. He was rescued by the Sheriff's Department and treated at Calhoun Memorial Hospital for frostbite.

Today, Whitetail Falls is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Twin Peaks. Not only is the scenic overview breathtakingly beautiful, but the Falls are the third highest waterfalls in the United States. The drop is longer than that of Niagara Falls, but not as wide.
